Facts about Bulgaria
Bulgaria is situated in south east part of Europe in east part of Balkan Peninsula. Their borders are: east is Black sea, north through Danube with Romania, west Serbia and Macedonia and south with Greece and Turkey. By Black sea Bulgaria has sea route with Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Moldova and Georgia. Bulgaria has strategic location- crossroad of Europe, Asia and Africa. The total area is 111000 m2 with 1820 km borders and 355 km sea coast. Territory consists of 60% mountains (Rila, Pirin, Rhodopes, and Stara Planina) and the rest are plains and valleys. The climate is moderate continental with considerable reflection in east by Black sea and south by Mediterranean- comprise of four seasons- summer, spring, winter and autumn. Annual average temperature is 11ºC. The summer is dry and hot, while the winter is mild and snowy. Bulgarian state was founded in 681 after union of Slavs (native citizens) and Bulgarians (settlers came from East Asia with Turks origin). The Bulgaria nature is unique and pictures. The beauties consist of sandy beaches hosts sea resorts and high mountains with sloped hill carved by wild rivers with winter ski resorts of Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo nestled inside. The Bulgarian summer resort are favourite tourist destination for tourists and holidays makers from UK, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Czech republic, Poland, Slovakia, Macedonia, Hungary. In summer there are more 140 sunny days and average temperature of 26ºC (79ºF), as the higher T don’t exceed 35ºC (95ºF). Almost all the resort has Blue Flag facilities. Mostly tourist use flights starts and ends at Bourgas, Varna Plovdiv and Sofia Airports. Most distant are flights from UK and Ireland lasting a few hours. At the moment it’s running the project Open Sky attracts many low cost Airlines to choose Bulgaria as profitable destination. Bulgaria is fast growing tourist country. Winter resort have many visits as well, average temperatures are – 2 ºC äî – 7 ºC and snow cover is 120 – 200 sm. The major tour operators are, First Choice, Heckerman, and Thomas Cook. Winter resorts include the same tour operators, adding Bulgaria in their offers. Bulgaria was joined in NATO in 2004, while on 1st January is member of EU. The Bulgarian currency is Bulgarian Leva. There is currency board ending in 2009. In state there are 56 national reserves and 850 mineral springs. Bulgaria is country with parliamentary democracy. The General Assembly include 240 deputies- 4 years mandate and president 5 years mandate. Supreme low is Bulgarian Constitution. Bulgarian religions are 87% orthodox, 12% Muslims and 1% Catholics and Jewish. Administrative the country is divided in 28 districts. The highest peak is Musala (Pirin Mountain) 2925 m above sea level and biggest plain is Danube plain. Biggest city is capital Sofia 13000000 inhabitants, follows by Plovdiv 350000, Varna 330000, Bourgas 200000, Rousse 15000 and etc. Population of Bulgaria is approx. 7700000 people; alphabet is with Slav letters- created at the end of 9 D.C. The culture spends 1300 growth, all towns have universities, secondary schools, colleagues, theatres, operas, libraries, museums, and heritages est. Criminality has low level. Bulgarian army count 40000 solders.
