         Pamporovo resort boasts with unique location on the southern slopes of the Rhodope Mountain, just 40 km from the border with Greece. It is the one and only region for winter holidays in Bulgaria which is perched on the hilltop 1910 m. a. s. l and covered with more than 2 meters snow duting the winter. In recent years the ski area has become most visited holiday remedy for vacations in Bulgarian mountains. Pamporovo hotels are enveloped of approx. 20 sq.km breathtaking pine forest in the central-southern Bulgaria, 25 km from Plovdiv and 260 km from Sofia. The "Mountain of Orpheus" as called Rhodope, at the foot of Snejanka Peak at an altitude of 1650 to 1926 meters at the foot of Mount Snow (1926 m above). The most famous hotels in Pamporovo are Murgavets, Prespa, Rozhen, Snow White, Orpheus, Panorama, Orlovetsand Finland.

History and landmarks

It was established in 1933. Its name derives from the old Bulgarian word "pampor" which means caravan. According to legend, went through province passed trade caravans from the Aegean to the west of Thrace. Meat landowner who built a shelter for wintering caravans was called Pampor and its land named Pamporovo. This is the only mountain resort where the lifts work during summer. Ski runs and lifts

Skiing and snowboarding can make from late November to late April. With the highest degree of difficulty are slopes of Snejanka (Studenets), 3 and 4. For beginners there are several runways equipped with mini-drugs. Thefansof cross country skiing and biathlon tracks take pleasurearound the Mount Snow and sport shooting in the locality dam. Ski slopes include 14 pistes with a total length of over 17.5 km and a maximum height difference of 476 m. In each of hotels in Pamporovo is embedded and effective training course for skiing, after finishedeveryone receives a certificate for corresponding level. The training is conducted in groups or singly within 3 to 14 days and for different levels of training. The tracks are marked by the standards of international marks. Giving ski rental and use of the ski is a common practice.

Transport and entertainment

Infrastructure of the resort comprises buses to Plovdiv, Smolyan and Sofia. The alternative offers abundance of restaurants offering traditional Bulgarian cuisine, fast food restaurants, pizzerias, cafes, bars, discos, bistros, snack bars and shops. Attractions include skiing, slides, surfing, motor scooters, jet skis, fishing and many other entertainment for the guests are tourists. Hotels in Pamporovo are preferred asa quiet corner in the mountainparticularly beneficial for families with childrenand individual tourists.
